THM: 2020 Top 10 List

The Pots and Pans in my Cupboard…

In 2018, I decided to go through all the books I have and pare them down. Also, I decided to have some fun with it. Since I had just watched a few episodes of “Tiny House Living”, I asked myself, “If I lived in a tiny house and could only have ten books, which ten would it be?” (list archived here). This year, I asked myself, “If I had a tiny house and could only have 10 pots and pans, which ones would I pick?” This proved harder than the book question because I love to cook and bake and have a collection of specialty pots and pans, such as a wok, angel food cake pan, and pizza stone to name a few.

  1. 13” Cast Iron Frying Pan

  2. 13” Stainless Steel Saute Pan

  3. 3-qt. Sauce Pot

  4. Spaghetti pot with steamer and colander inserts

  5. 8” Sq. Glass Pan

  6. 8” Sq. Glass Pan

  7. Cookie Sheet

  8. Loaf Pan

  9. Muffin Pan

  10. 5 qt. Dutch Oven

I am keeping number 1 because my mother was told to cook food for her daughters in a cast iron skillet because it would add iron to the food (whether this is true or not, I feel it’s a good reason). Number 4 allows me to have a large and medium colander if I use the inserts separate from the pot (double duty). Number 5 and 6 is so that I am always able to make my family’s traditional birthday cake, Georgia Chocolate Cake with Mocha Cream Frosting. Number 10 is being kept because once you use a Le Creuset Dutch Oven, there is no turning back— think pot roast, rice pudding, bread, etc.
