The World Speaks

Emails I received:

“happy to kick this around with you Mali.” — Karen B, a friend

“I vote to give it another year.” — Susie E. (known to me as, Aunt Susie who with my Uncle Ed has always been supportive.)

Response to my link posted on Facebook:

“Why are they mutually exclusive? The smart money is on multiple streams of income. I believe we can have it all - not always all at once but never give up on your dreams. Maybe a tweak here and there ...” — Shelly S. (My new wise and sage friend)

Not to mention that my friend, Mark D wants to get on the phone with me to discuss this. Even my business coach asked me about it on our last call. Wow, all this response (and support) to my quandary. In theory, Shelly is right I can do both; however, I feel that to do a good job that I should only do one. I already have on my plate taking care of my home (on of the toilets is having an issue), taking care of my daughter (who became a vegetarian early in the year necessitating a shift in cooking habits), and taking care of myself (I embarked on a weight loss journey at the year’s beginning and so far have lost between 20-25 Lbs.). My Aunt is also right, since this year has been a wash, I should give it another year to put all the personal and professional development into play and see what happens. And those that want to talk with me, just want to import some sage wisdom or help me talk it through. At rock bottom, this has become less about my quandary and more about how my community is supporting me in whatever decision I make. The world is a mess right now, with political upheavals, faltering economies, unemployment rates rising, and food scarcity getting worse, that it is nice to know that we are there for each other even if this is relatively small in comparison to the world. This to me a gift from the Pandemic, a silver lining, and something I am thankful for.
