I am Cleopatra!

I was participating in a webinar and the host asked, “Do you have an alter ego. Everyone has an alter ego. “ This wasn’t something I had thought about. Several years ago, I had discovered spirit guides when I was doing Reiki sessions. One is Octavia, an ancient Roman aristocratic woman. The other is Tati, my Native American grandmother. Octavia lets me sit on a lounge chair by her atrium pool and offers me snacks. Tati lets me sit in her tepee on animal skins, serves hot Matche (a drink I made-up), and lets me sleep under a dyed red sheepskin.

An alter ego? I quickly mulled this over in my brain. The first person that popped into my head was Lois Lane and the second person was Cleopatra. In the end “Cleopatra” spoke louder, so my BA in classical civilizations came in handy. It handed me a badass ancient gal who rocked the world. That’s what I plan to do this year— “Rock the World” How? That’s the million-dollar question (and if you have a million dollars, I’ll gladly take it off your hands). The fictional character, Lois Lane isn’t shabby herself. She is a hard nose reporter (award-winning) who went after the truth, especially about Superman.

Having an alter ego, especially one that is badass, helps you be badass. Every time you need to muster up the courage to do something outside your comfort zone, stare down fear, and/or speak your mind, just pretend you are your alter ego. Over time of doing this, you will naturally develop the ability to do things on your own, and your alter ego will be standing by and giving you two thumbs up. Just a warning, you may come face to face in the near future with Cleopatra masking around as Mali List Mayer.

So whom is your alter ego?
