Oops, I am a fraud!

One of the tools I share with clients is vision boarding. “A vision board is a creative process to set clear intentions and goals for what you want in your life, so you can grow and transform yourself.” — Louise Bartlett

In fact, the idea behind a vision board (VB) is the law of attraction popularized in the movie and book, The Secret. The more you visualize what you want in life the more you put it out to the universe and therefore the more the universe attracts it to you. “‘Visualization is one of the most powerful mind exercises you can do. According to the popular book The Secret, "The law of attraction is forming your entire life experience and it is doing that through your thoughts. When you are visualizing, you are emitting a powerful frequency out into the Universe."‘ — Elizabeth Rider, HuffPost

If I explain all this to my customers, then why is my VB a whole bunch of inspirational quotes with a few photos of what I want— RV, Sydney Opera House, and gobs of money. On an aside, I am already saving to go to Australia and New Zealand for my 50th birthday and plan to see an opera at the Sydney Opera House which is an item on my bucket list.

I recently had my bedroom painted as part of a redecoration of the room. I took down my VB (Kraft paper taped to the back of a door). I looked at the other day and realized that it was all about motivation and not so much about my life goals, like owning a tiny home in Lambertville NJ with a Yurt for guests also on the property or that I want to be a sought after coach for helping people figure out their goals, map them and achieve them.

So, If I know what a VB is, then why is mine so off? Easy. I guess when I started it last year, I need more motivation then. When Sylvie was little and she was struggling with learning a life value, I would find a quote about it. Turn it into a prettily designed sheet of paper and hang it on her wall. Each new one went under the last one. We almost ran out of wall space before this was no longer necessary. Motivation is needed by all of us in some form or another to push forward.

The moral of this blog, I will redo my VB in the next coming weeks to reflect my life goals and my motivation board (MB) will be going back on the back of the door so when I see it in the morning, I am motivated to tackle the day.

(As soon as my VB is well on its way, I will post a photo.)
