Versatility, again.

First I would like to thank John Hlad plumbing for three things. One, being on time, in fact the workmen were a few minutes early, two, for handling themselves in a safe manner regarding the pandemic while in my home and three, for giving me another lesson in versatility. I don’t know about you, but I learned a long time ago, probably in my youth, that there are two ways to unclog a sink. Way one is to pour an unclogging liquid, such as Drano, Liquid Plumber, etc. down the drain and pray that it works. Way two is to call a plumber and have the drain snaked. I remember owing my mother $60 because the 3rd floor bathroom tub was clogged in our home and when snaked by the plumber a wad of dark curly hair came out. No mistaking it as my hair, so I paid up. Since the plumber was coming to fix my kitchen faucet and unclogging liquid had failed on my bathroom sink, I asked them to snake it (and the other sink too for good measure). Instead, the used a plunger and with all the pumping they were able to make both sinks drain easily. A plunger? For some reason, I thought you only used a plunger on cogged toilets. My bad! Plungers work on all clogged drains—see the versatility. Just open up your sink drain, meaning remove the stopper if there is one, and pump away with the plunger. If this doesn’t work then try unclogging liquid and last resort call a plumber and fork over the money, probably way more than $60 now.
