Got exercise?!

While we need to sometimes laugh at our failures, we definitely need to learn from them. This can’t be done in mere seconds but takes time. Think of it like baking When you put a cake in the oven, it takes a certain amount of time before you can pull it out and call it done, and even then, it may need a few more minutes. So how do we take time to take stock of failures and learn from them?

Simple answer: Take time off. This allows our minds to wind down and take stock of many things going on, not just our recent failures. One of the best ways to take time off is to go on vacation. However, even an afternoon off will suffice. I find for myself that I often have great ideas op in my head while I am “taking off.”

I am happy to report that I am on vacation and I have already had some thoughts/ideas for my business and even allowed myself to take stock of the fact that exercise has made it to the bottom of my priorities list. In 2019, I gave up my gym membership because I was bored and started taking a fitness class at a nearby studio. When the pandemic hit I doubled down on my walking and using my exercise bands or strength training. Fast forward a year and a half plus, the studio closed and I am bored again. I need to find another fitness class. Way back when (College) I did the Jane Fonda Workout on VHS and that cured me of video exercise classes. So I will begin research for a live in-person outdoor fitness class when I return from vacation.

The point is just as we need to teach our kids to laugh at their failures if it is warranted we also need to teach them to learn from their failures no matter how long it takes. I hope this is a lesson my daughter is learning from me.
