Age, gracefully.
As I said in my latest blog post, I attended my college reunion recently. Already classmates (we’re over 50) talked about chronic health issues, aches and pains and the roller coaster of perimenopause. When did I get old enough for this? When I was 49 years old, a childhood hearing problem reared it’s head making hearing aids a necessity and I was back to glasses 24/7/365 since I was no longer 100% farsighted. Ugh! As my mother says, “Getting old is not for sissies.” Here’s the thing, my mother isn’t really aging. She is over 80 years old and is in great shape. I would say her strength, endurance and flexibility are 10-20 years younger than her. As I posted in the after reunion What’s App, I hope myself and my classmates are in good enough shape to hike the Dolomites like my mom is doing later this year. I am lucky enough to be her travel companion and so I am in training mode so I can keep up. May we all have our full faculties, be able to walk unassisted, and look fabulous as we age and hit the 80 years old and above mark!
