Chicago bound...
I am headed to Chicago for the Shaklee North American Conference. For those of you that don’t know, I get my protein powder and bars, vitamins and supplements from Shaklee. I went last year when it was in Dallas (and caught up with an old friend beforehand). The reason I go is because I can learn about and sample new products, hear about the latest from the Shaklee scientists and be with others who like me are being proactive about their health. The main thing I have learned from Shaklee is that there is lifespan and health span. Lifespan is how long we live (which is out of our control). Health span is how long we live with all our facilities and in good health. This we can control.
Over the past 3+ years that I have been using Shaklee products (I also use their skin care and home care products), I have noticed two things about myself. One, I am paying more attention to eating healthy, and exercising more regularly. Two, that I am more aware of the choices I make and how they affect my health. This doesn’t mean that I cut out all sugar and eat veggie heavy meals. I still eat carbs, have the occasional donut, and enjoy a glass of white wine with friends. It simply means I do these things in moderation.
I am attuned to my body and listens when it tells me something is wrong. I use this to help guide me in prioritizing my health and wellness (and know when to slow it down). Heck, I want to be around for grandkids and see if they throw temper tantrums like my daughter and I did.
