Live healthy!
I watched this video…
Life Lessons from Centenarians
The man in the video says, “Don’t let the old man in.” WHOA! This explains my octogenarian mother. She is in better shape than me and I’m over 30 years her junior. The point is that she has never said, “I’m too old to do this.” She figures out how to do it for her age. The other point is that my mother has always exercised (she jogged several times a week when I was kid), eaten healthy, and taken care of her health. The last one is the most important. How can anyone expect to live a long life if they don’t prioritize their health and/or wait until there is a problem to see a doctor? A few years ago, I embarked on a journey to lose weight by putting my health first. I made and still make sure to exercise regularly and eat right. Most recently now that my carb loving daughter is at university, I have cut back on carbs. This coupled with supplements, vitamins, and protein powder for shakes from Shaklee, I am over 50 and feel better than I did in my 40s. Guess what?! The other key to longevity is a positive attitude. “The study in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences found that people who had higher levels of optimism had a longer life span. They also had a greater chance of living past age 85. The researchers analyzed data gleaned from two large population studies: about 70,000 women from the Nurses’ Health Study and about 1,400 men from the Veterans Affairs Normative Aging Study.” ( David R. Topor, PhD, Harvard Health Publishing) No wonder the old man in the video and my mom don’t feel old. I hope when I am octogenarian or even a centenarian, I don’t feel old either.
