Health Goal

I am a planner. I meal plan each week, so my grocery shopping is tailored to my lunch and dinner menus (I do a protein shake for breakfast). I even have my workouts and walks mapped out by the week. Monday is a workout, Tuesday is a walk, Wednesday is Yoga, etc.  As the ads pop up on my phone for exercise apps, I am tempted to jump on the lose weight and get fit bandwagon. I have learned that most of these apps, which ask you to pay for your customized plan, give you a daily plan. This wouldn’t work for me (and probably others with a planner gene). Mapping out my exercise a week at a time is part of planning my week and days.

I have learned that planning my meals, especially dinner, and my workouts and walks helps me to keep on track with staying healthy and reach my wellness goals. My over 35+ years of studying productivity and time management have taught me that planning your goals (AKA goal mapping) is the number one way to achieve them. My current health goal is to get in shape for hiking the Dolomites (Italy) in the fall. To this end, I am increasing the mileage of my walks and adding strength training workouts. By doing this, I am ensuring that I will be able to hike 5-6 miles a day and keep up with my octogenarian mother.

What is goal mapping?
